An Introduction to “Inside The Lines”

Today I’m excited to unveil a new project for the Parallel community.

Inside the Lines is dedicated to exploring Parallel lore. Nothing less, nothing more.

Powered by Prime.Wiki and The Game Cellar, we’re rolling out a collection of curated content and group activities focused on “all things lore” and everything else “inside” the Parallel universe.

The official launch includes a livestream hosted by The Game Cellar on Thursday 9/5 at 8:00p EST. It will feature Ry & Orphan, myself (Goldy), Vacasean, and a special Ambassador guest, the one and only [redacted]!

The kick-off stream is a chance for the Parallel community to catch up and celebrate the first set of leaks from the upcoming expansion set, Aftermath. We’ll be talking about the latest cards and easter eggs, sharing updates from around the TCG, and looking ahead to what’s coming in 2025.

We also plan to drop some juicy lore trivia, with a chance for viewers to win some awesome giveaways!

What To Expect

Alongside the kick-off stream, we’ve created an Online Toolkit that will act as a basic guide for the lore lovers. This will be a great way for fans to enjoy exploring the Parallel universe together. This toolkit will be shared during the show on 9-5-24 and can be accessed anytime for free.

In regard to the curated content and group activities, we plan to host small events on a monthly basis. This will include things like trivia nights, group world-building activities, comics and storyline explorations, voice chats with Ambassadors, and possibly even some interviews with Parallel’s team of rising stars.

To stay updated on all things “Inside the Lines” please follow our new X account. As we continue to roll things out over the next few months, I think you’ll find our mission to be quite simple:

Parallel Lore. Nothing less, nothing more.

Setting The Stage

While new discoveries in archaeology are constantly redefining our world history timeline, it’s generally believed that the first civilizations emerged from the fertile crescent around 3,000 BCE. Everything prior to that point is called “prehistoric” because it took place before writing was invented.

Now take that entire stretch of 5,000 years of human evolution – from the very first cuneiform clay tablets in Mesopotamia to the latest releases of Grok and Claude AI systems – and double it.

Ten thousand years.

As mere mortals, what could we possibly know about what life will actually look like in 10,000 years? Will we have finally escaped the confines of Earth’s atmosphere and found a way to sustain life on Mars? Will we be telepathic omnipotent beings with the power to time travel? Will any semblance of what we currently call ‘consciousness’ even exist at all?

Even the most educated guesses still seem utterly futile, as we lean on technology to help us peer deeper into space and further back in time. And while we can only imagine what the distant future has in store, one thing we know for sure – life will look nothing like it does today.

Alas, welcome to the captivating world of Parallel. An exciting new sci-fi universe with an original story and lore that reveals not just one stream of possibility for life in 10,000 years, but FIVE.

The Lore is Expanding

If it’s true that a game is only as good as its story, then Parallel is primed to be a staple in the TCG and sci-fi genres for many years to come. One major reason for this is its emerging lore, which is getting deeper and more compelling with each passing day.

When Parallel’s main story arc was originally published in early 2021, the first wave of followers quickly fell in love with the five factions (called Parallels), the main characters (called Paragons), and the “origin story” of the game’s universe. More than three years later, interest in the artwork, the storylines, and the first two expansion sets (Planetfall and Aftermath) is growing exponentially.

Supplemented by four colorful comics and a slew of digital objects, fans are discovering the many branches of this sci-fi universe. That includes things like Terminals, Companions, Landscapes, Cosmetics, and even a second game in development, called Colony. This genre-bending game is being built around 3D model Avatars to act as AI agents, immersing you even deeper into the many dimensions of Parallel.

While fans are eager to learn more about their favorite colors, archetypes, playstyles, and cards, it’s so exciting to step back and realize that we’re barely scratching the surface of the Parallel universe. Everywhere I look, from the juicy cinematics to the concept art for the latest Aftermath cards, I’m finding new characters with storylines and conflicts just waiting to be told.

A perfect example of this is found in the awesome thread below from loyal lore lover BranFrost:

Yet beyond the cards and comics, we still know very little about the Paragons, their backstories, their motivations, and each Parallel’s history, beliefs, and mythologies. That’s what makes this project so exciting; we get the rare opportunity to watch this sci-fi universe continue to unfold TOGETHER.

Because of this, I believe now is a great time to get the ball rolling and celebrate the fresh and emerging lore together. Being creative means being curious, and our curious community is the the driving force behind Inside the Lines.

Thanks for supporting what we’re building, and I hope you really enjoy what we have to offer as things get underway!

The Emerging Lore Series

If you are new to Parallel or haven’t really had a chance to dig into the lore, feel free to reference this series I wrote for Prime.Wiki a few years back. Keep in mind when these were written and always refer to Parallel’s official website.
