Digital Collectibles

What are Digital collectibles [DCs]?

DCs are the cards and Assets that players, and participants in the Echelon Ecosystem, use to play games, Cache, and more.

Digital Collectibles

The most common type of Digital Collectible in the Echelon Ecosystem right now is Parallel cards. These cards will be usable in the game that Parallel is developing and hopes to release sometime in 2023. Another group of Digital Collectibles is Assets. They aren’t used in gameplay (eg. you can’t play an Asset on the board). Instead, they are used around gameplay and outside of the game. Check out the Assets page to learn more about them.

A New Way to Play

The most exciting part of Digital Collectibles is the ownership aspect. Once you purchase or earn your cards or Assets, they’re yours. You can use them to play with, sell them to earn money, or stare at them lovingly. This is a direct departure from how digital Assets are used in today’s gaming economy. Normally, you exchange money for a new item or skin, and it’s yours. You might be able to enhance it over time or gain attributes (eg. battle scars), but in most cases, you can’t turn around and sell it to someone else. This is the value proposition of Digital Collectibles.

Composability

Being able to buy and sell Digital Collectibles within a game is cool. But what if you could take those same collectibles used to play a card game and drop them into a First Person Shooter (FPS) to build a unique character only you have? That is the idea of composability, a key tenant of Parallel's vision for each card it creates. It’s an exciting proposition and lends hope to a dynamic future gaming experience.
