With hype levels hitting an all-time high for the upcoming Parallel Prime Championship in Las Vegas, we are excited to announce a fun little side event at HyperX Arena, the Parallel Lore Meet & Greet!
WHAT: The Parallel Lore Meet & Greet will take place at 1:00p on Saturday, March 1 during the first-ever Parallel Prime Championship. This casual mixer is open to PPC attendees and includes a chance to meet a pair of special Parallel guests. It is co-hosted by Goldy and Kobra.
WHERE: This side event will be held on the second-level bar inside of HyperX Arena, which is located inside the Luxor Hotel.
WHO: This event features two special guests from Parallel Studios: Oscar Mar (Co-Founder and Art Director) and Greg Lastra (Lead Narrative Designer and Comics Writer).
WHY: This event is focused on bringing the community together and sharing our mutual love for Parallel’s outstanding lore and art. It’s also a rare chance for fans to meet two key members from the studio. Think of it as the first mini Lore Goblin gathering!
NOTE: Depending on tournament play and noise control, a sit-down Q&A session with our guests will also take place. If it’s way too loud, we invite attendees to hang out, have a drink, check out our exclusive swag, and mingle with the fam!
Similar to our first year hosting the Prime.Wiki Awards in 2022, we’re basically treating this like a “test-run” event. That allows us to gain feedback from guests and hopefully host something bigger and better at next year’s championship.
A huge thanks to Parallel Studios, Fitch, and the Echelon Foundation for supporting this side event! We’ve included some more details below, but be sure to follow @PrimeWiki and @ParallelLore for the latest updates.
As one of the co-founders and the Art Director of Parallel Studios, Oscar Mar carries the biggest stick when it comes to bringing Parallel lore to life.
Mar has chatted with the community many times before, including at the virtual Parallel Symposium hosted by The Game Cellar. His most recent appearance on the Parallel League Podcast is another terrific look at his role, his influences, and his outlook for the TCG and beyond.
Prior to co-founding Parallel, Oscar worked as a lead motion designer and presentation director for Electronic Arts, contributing to classic franchises such as Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, Rainbow 6, and FarCry. That’s just a tiny speck of his complete professional portfolio, but it gives you an idea of his sheer talent and commitment to artistic excellence.
Oscar will be available during our event to sign autographs, meet fans, and chat more about the expanding Parallel universe.
If you’ve followed Parallel at any point over the past three years, you know that the comic series, The Priming, is the game’s main source of lore. The final sixth issue of the series is in production, so we’re currently seeing maximum “wen” power from the Lore Goblins.
That’s where Greg Lastra comes in. As Parallel’s lead narrative designer writer, not only is his comic wordsmithing responsible for immersing us into the game’s wider universe, but he works side-by-side with Oscar to ensure the quality of every page remains elite.
Together, Oscar and GL create a dynamic and impressive sci-fi world building duo, which makes this side event such a special treat for the fans in attendance!
There will be no shortage of Parallel swag and juicy giveaways for those who stop by our side event. We will have English physical Parallel cards, some of the rare PD1 and PD2 Masterpiece posters, printed comics, toys, and more.
Stay tuned for more details on how you can walk away with some of this awesome swag as we get closer to tourney time in Vegas. And as always, thanks for supporting Prime.Wiki and our lore-specific project, Inside the Lines!
