EPs are 9 individuals elected by the community to represent the interests of $PRIME holders and the Echelon Prime Foundation. EPs are elected on an annual basis via the Echelon governance mechanisms.
The nomination period takes place every year and begins on the first Sunday in March. Each candidate must announce their candidacy publicly.
At the beginning of the voting period, all holders of $PRIME are eligible to vote. They receive castable votes proportional to the square root of $PRIME they held at the beginning of the voting period. Eligible voters can cast their votes for as many candidates as there are open seats. Candidates are elected by the third Sunday in March and take their positions on April 1st.
Prior to the end of each term, EPs can select up to four current EPs to continue for a second term. However, any individual EP must be elected via the community at least once every two years. Furthermore, any individual EP can serve a maximum of 9 consecutive terms.
The community may call for a re-election or removal of all 9 EPs at any time by submitting a proposal.
This proposal would require 71% quorum. If a quorum is reached, EPs will not have the power to approve or decline the proposal. Instead, Parallel must approve the community re-election or removal proposal.
If approved, an election or removal vote will begin. Existing EPs are eligible to be re-nominated and voted in under this process. If Parallel rejects a removal proposal, that decision will stand for the remainder of the current EP term.
