Introducing the Prime.Wiki Awards

It’s hard to believe 2022 is already behind us and the final pack drop (PDVI) for Parallel’s base set is only 10 days away.

Since that historic PS-15 event in March of 2021, Parallel has evolved into one of the biggest and brightest constellations in the web3 gaming skies. Drop by drop and day by day, the vast sci-fi universe is rapidly expanding right before our eyes.

Parallel’s pivotal sophomore year is wrapping up to be a successful one. Telescopic in nature, things seemed to hit a new gear heading into the last quarter. The first issue of their new comic series, The Priming, dropped in late October. Then the first-ever $PRIME sink, Artigraphs, went online in early December, followed by the Payload a week later.

Other Echelon systems will start blinking green in the near future, as the highly anticipated community vote to unlock $PRIME just went live this afternoon.

ALL IN THE FAMILY

Intermingled with all of this new growth is the crucial keystone of any successful game … the Community.

Across the board and despite the bear, the interest in the sci-fi franchise and excitement for their Early Access program is rising. Along the way, fans are developing tighter friendships with each other. Newcomers are creating bonds with their favorite characters. And the coding ninjas are building better tools to make the game more accessible.

In fact, the birthright of Prime.Wiki itself is rooted in this passionate growing community, as this website publicly launched in September (exactly four months as of 1/5/23).

For all of these reasons, along with so many others that we’ll share over the next few weeks, we wanted to pay homage to the Parallel community as a collective entity.

With that in mind, we’re excited to announce a new annual ceremony we are simply calling the Prime.Wiki Awards.

THE PWA MISSION

The annual Prime.Wiki Awards (PWA) are dedicated to highlighting prominent members of the Parallel TCG community and promoting their outstanding contributions to the social and cultural aspects of the game. Winners are determined by the fans through an online voting process, while the specific categories are managed by Prime.Wiki’s staff.

While this is a simple beginning for the PWA’s, we already have lots in store for the future, including bigger prizes and more ways to get involved. We understand that this is merely the first step in a much bigger and more important event, so we are 100 percent open to feedback, ideas, and of course partnerships.

But we’ll save all of that for another time. For now, let’s break down the selection process and how things will unfold over the next two weeks.

The PWA selection process is broken down into two simple phases.

PHASE 1: NOMINATIONS

First is the NOMINATIONS phase. Anyone with a Discord handle can participate.

We don’t want to arbitrarily select the top nominees for each category, so we are allotting time for the fans to decide! Starting now and until the end of this week, you can submit a Nominations form on our new AWARDS page.

The deadline to submit your nominations is Sunday, January 8 at 11:59 pm EST. The official 2022 Nominees will be announced on Monday, January 9 at 1:11 pm EST.

Once we’ve gathered everyone’s submissions, we will determine the official Nominees for each category. We have not yet determined the exact number of Nominees for each category, as they may have varying totals.

PHASE 2: VOTING

Next is the VOTING phase. Anyone with a Discord handle can participate.

The official Voting phase will take place from Monday, January 9 – Friday, January 13 at 11:59 pm EST. The winners will be announced on or before Wednesday, January 18.

In order to establish a strong foundation for these community-driven awards, we want to offer some incentives for you to vote in the inaugural ceremony. We won’t reveal any details yet but expect to hear about future giveaways for Parallel cards, prizes, and more.

THE CATEGORIES

For the inaugural PWA’s, we have created 11 prime categories, most of which focus directly on outstanding members of the community. We also reserved a few categories to act as “Fan’s Choice” awards, including the best Parallel Character, best Card Function, and last but not least, Most Popular Parallel.

Here is a breakdown of the 11 categories.

*FYI: “The Best Parallel” award will not be included in the Nominations phase.

1. Best Fan Artist

Who was the Best Fan Artist in 2022? Who truly captured your heart with their artwork and who best represents what the community is all about? Remember, we are looking for the best artist, so consider their collective works as a whole, not just a single piece of art.

2. Best Meme Maker

Who was the Best Meme Maker in the Parallel community in 2022? There were a number of cheeky memes shared in Discord and across social media last year, so who should take the cake? Same as above, we are awarding the person, not an individual meme.

3. Top Community Builder

Who was the Top Community Builder in 2022? Think of someone that provided the most informative and consistent coverage of the Parallel franchise. Who was the most effective builder to support the community and the game as a whole?

4. Most Passionate Fan

Who are some of the most passionate members of the Parallel community? We are not specifying exactly what it means to be a passionate member, so use your own best judgment when submitting your nominations.

5. Best Theory Crafter

Who has exhibited the highest level of theory crafting so far? Who has the strategic mind to dominate the battlefield with the best metas and combos?

6. Best Discord Warden

This category pays homage to the selfless Wardens. The protectors of the realm get their own category in order to take home bragging rights for the entire year. Nominate your favorites and let’s see who rises to the top!

7. The Prime Economist

Who was the best and most prominent “Economist” in the Parallel community? Who did the best number crunching and had the best-supporting facts, figures, charts, and estimates?

8. Best Parallel Tweet

Who posted the best Parallel-related Tweet? This is not the best Tweet FROM Parallel itself, but the best Tweet related to Parallel from someone in the community.

9. Best Card Function

Which card in the base deck showcases your favorite in-game function? FYI: Paragons are excluded from this category, but cards released in 2021 (PS-15, PDI, PDII) are eligible.

10. Best Parallel Character

Which in-game or comic-based character is your favorite so far? Paragons are included in this year’s category, as are characters that were published in 2021.

11. The Best Parallel

*FYI: This category is not included in the Nominations phase.
